Top tips for dog-friendly holidays
Holidays are just as much for the four-legged family members as for ourselves! There is a lot to think about and consider when planning a trip with your pooch. We've broken down some top tips for preparing your best friend for a fantastic holiday away.
Preparation is key
Getting your dog used to the different steps of going on holiday is important, from ensuring they are comfortable with travelling in the car to how they behave in crowds. These can be built up over time with experience and positive reinforcement. See what your dog is comfortable with and build from there.

Dog-friendly beaches
Let's be honest, the beach is the best place to take your dog - there are large stretches of sand to tear around, refreshing water to play in and plenty of great smells! It can be tricky to know which beaches are dog-friendly in advance. Luckily we have a handy guide here.
Quick-fire tips
- Bring everything your dog will need for their big break - lead, collar with I.D, treats, poo bags, food, their bed and toys
- Make it feel like a home from home - routine can help them settle quickly
- Don't ever leave your dog in the car, temperatures can sore unexpecedly and dogs die in hot cars
- Try to walk them when it's cooler - usually morning or early evening. You can test the tarmac with your hand. If it's too hot for your hand it's too hot for your dog
- Always bring plenty of water for walks
